From 2009 through 2011, I played drums in a Lexington band called The City. The band primarily played monthly benefit shows, with proceeds from ticket sales going to various local and regional charities. The band roster changed a lot over the years, but during my tenure it included Gene Woods on guitar and vocals, Jessie Rose Pennington on vocals, Tom Martin on keyboards, Brian Powers on bass, Maggie Lander on vocals and fiddle, Chris Goode on trumpet, Mike Meuser on trombone, and a rotating cast of saxophones.
